Getting to Mt Buller

The OLOS lodge is located at Lot 51 Stirling Road in the Mt Buller Village, which is near the top of Mount Buller.

Mt Buller is a 3-hour drive from Melbourne via the Hume Highway or Maroondah Highway. Most people travel via Yarra Glen, Yea and Mansfield – the closest major town to the Resort. Pass through Mansfield and follow the signs to Mt Buller.

At the base of Mt Buller (Mirimbah) you will be required to stop at the gate entry point and pay a fee to enter the Resort (this can be pre-booked online). Once through the gate entry point, continue up a well-maintained road to Mt Buller.

As the Mt Buller Village is located above the snow line, only a limited amount and type of cars are permitted to actually drive into the Village (access is normally restricted to residents, property owners and mountain staff).  Most cars are required to stop at a car park about 1.5km below the Village. At this point, you will be guided by an attendant to a parking spot.

From here, you can either take a free shuttle bus (for day visitors, without luggage) that will take you up into the Village centre or get in a 4WD taxi (for people staying overnight) which will take you right to the OLOS lodge. You can also buy tickets for the 4WD taxi at the Mirimbah entry gate.  You should book your return taxi pick up at the time of your arrival to ensure you have a return time locked in – Sunday afternoons book out very quickly).

If you are staying in the Resort overnight, you are required to carry chains at all times and fit them when directed, as weather conditions may change unexpectedly throughout the evening. You can rent chains in Mansfield.
